Location & Proposals

In looking at the shape of development on this site we have taken into account the following:

  • Its location within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the Chipping Norton Conservation Area.
  • The setting and views of Bliss Mill, a Grade2* listed building located in the valley below.
  • The opportunity to create a new high quality gateway / entrance to Chipping Norton along Churchill Road;
  • The requirement to provide urgently needed affordable housing of at least 40%.
  • The need to consider the impact of traffic, ecology and drainage.

What are we proposing:

A Cotswold based specialist Conservation Architect has worked alongside a specialist in landscape design to respond to the challenges and opportunities of the site and develop the draft plans. The draft plans include the following:

  • Around 60 houses
  • A mix of house types and sizes.
  • A significant area of open space.
  • A layout which integrates both the market townscape and landscape elements of the AONB.
  • Ideas which will enhance the setting, character and gateway to Chipping Norton.
  • An area of enhanced biodiversity.
